Dr. A. K. Rawat, Principal Scientist, Dept. of Biotechnology, Government of India, New Delhi, visited Anand on December 05, 2007. He visited Amul Dairy and GCMMF to have an overview of the working of the Amul model of Co-operative dairying. The Dept. of Biotechnology is in the process of establishment of institute of Animal Biotechnology and Dr. Rawat is at present surveying suitable place in terms of geographical location, biodiversity, human resources, micro environment infrastructure existing for feasibility of transfer of technology developed by DBT to stakeholders, i.e. farmers, industry, co-operative milk producer union, etc. His discussions with GCMMF Managing Director, Shri B. M. Vyas, left him impressed.
