Q.1. What do I need to have to create an Amul parlour?

  • A shop with an area of 100-300 sq ft.
  • Willingness to invest Rs. 1- 1.5 lacs
  • We have options for creating parlours at open space as well

Q.2. What do I need to do?

  1. Renovate your shop based on the design and specifications provided by Amul. You can do it the designer/contractor of Amul. It would cost you in the range of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1 lac in the renovation based on your shop size and condition.
  2. Deposit of Rs. 25,000 in the name of "Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited", in the form of a DD. The deposit is an interest-free refundable deposit taken by Amul, as an agreement towards working the shop, as per the specified terms and conditions.
  3. Equip the outlet with deep-freezers, refrigerators/visi-coolers, chest milk coolers, oven, dispensing machine, etc. based on the customer profile and expected volume of sales. The local Amul representative will be in a position to guide you on machines required, their capacity, type, etc. Equipping your outlet will cost you between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 1 lac.

Q.3. What else will I need to start running the shop?

  • Instruments in your shop like dust-bins (with lids, made of PVC), cash box, uniform (design/supplier shall be given), mops, etc.
  • Misc articles like poly-bags, paper napkins, paper plates, plastic glasses, etc. If pizzas are available, you will need to add pizza cutter, sauce, etc.
  • Stationary like files, stapler, calculator, etc.
  • Supplies of Amul stocks

Q.4. Where will I get supplies/stocks?

Distributors of Amul will supply you the entire range of Amul products at your shop. Amul has three kinds of distributors:

  1. Dairy Distributors deal with our entire range of dairy products which comes in 2 categories classified based on their storage condition:

  2. a. Ambient or those kept in room temperature, also referred to as 'dry' products like Ghee, milk powders, flavored milk, etc.
    b. Chilled products also referred to as 'wet' products. These products are stored at or below 4o centigrade, like butter, cheese, chocolates, etc. These products are stored in refrigerator or visi-cooler (glass front refrigerator) or chest milk coolers at the shop.
  3. Ice-cream Distributors deal with our range in frozen category, which is stored and transported in a frozen condition (- 28o centigrade or below). This category includes frozen pizzas and frozen paneer, and are stored in deep-freezers at shops.
  4. Milk Distributor who deals in the distribution of fresh products, which include pouch milk, buttermilk and curd. These products are also stored in refrigerator or visi-cooler (glass front refrigerator) or chest milk coolers at the shop.

Q.5. What will be my obligations as an Amul Preferred Outlet?

  • You will have to renovate the interiors of the shop based on the recommendations of Amul.
  • You will be buy a deep-freezer and a refrigerator or visi-cooler to start the shop. You will also buy a chest milk-cooler, an oven and a vending machine as specified by Amul representative.
  • You will keep solus Amul glowsign at most prominent location of your shop, preferably alike a dealer board.
  • You will keep an earmarked shelf for Amul products, at least 25 Rft.
  • You will not stock and sell any competing product of Amul, and limit the category of sales to that of food products. You shall take advise of Amul representative on addition of new product lines to your shop.
  • You will have to a give an interest-free refundable security deposit of Rs. 25,000.
  • You will not indulge in any wholesaling or semi-wholesaling of our products.
  • You will have to sign an agreement bringing us together in a mutually benefiting relationship.

Q.6. How will Amul support me?

  • Amul would provide the design and specifications for renovation of the outlet. It will provide consultancy if required and will also inspect the work of the contractor.
  • Amul will help in assessing the business potential of the shop and will help in making the business plan.
  • Amul will guide you in purchase of various equipment. It will also help you in choosing between the various sizes and types available based on its experience of the business.
  • Amul will provide the design and/or supplier of the uniform for the parlour boys.
  • Amul will provide advice and consultancy for inauguration and operation of your shop, as well as for attracting customers and increasing sales.
  • Amul will provide signages and glowsign to the outlet at its own cost. The design will be standard and such as to identify your outlet as a "a direct outlet of the company", which stores and sells the entire range of Amul products.
  • Amul shall give target based additional margin on its products for the first year of operation upto a maximum of 1% on dairy products and 2% on ice-cream.
  • Amul shall help in the inauguration by providing free ice-cream worth Rs. 1000. The other expenses of the inauguration shall be borne by you.
  • Amul shall give 1000 pamphlets specially printed for your shop for newspaper insertion in the neighborhood to generate awareness about your outlet.
  • Amul shall design and implement in-shop promotions based on requirement.
  • Amul shall keep you in its list of preference for all promotions schemes, launch of new products, etc.
